You don't have to sell millions to make your work meaningful.
Your value is not only in what wealth can be extracted from you.
I truly despise the parts of the online coaching world that makes you feel weak or not achieving everything if you are broke or struggling. Money is necessary and completely wonderful, but your life doesn’t start once you get your pile. I want you and me to have our piles—I know we will do wonderful things with it. If you already have your pile I trust you to do great things with it!
But we live as Lacy Johnson (Ecological author and Creative Non-fiction Professor at Rice University) says under a lie of a system that believes the only value a life has is the wealth we can extract from it. And we can’t let that be true. We can’t perpetuate that in our online business building, our work, or the planet. We need to pay the rent and mortgage and, also, we can believe in the value of our work beyond the Paypal statements.
You don’t have to sell millions of copies of your work to make it meaningful and helpful.
You don’t have to hurt yourself to share your work in the world.
You don’t have to be debt free to be a success.
You don’t have to achieve “something” before you can help.
In How to Give Yourself Permission one of the four key tools I share in giving yourself permission to decide and act is to be honest with yourself about where you are in the present moment and being ok knowing that. It’s the only place you can step onwards from.
So if you are broke and struggling and deciding what you want next I’m over here celebrating you. The magic is in the decisions not where you are standing when you make them.
