Lately I’ve been curious about why I have spent so many years writing and thinking about Permission. Why am I still on about this? Why don’t I just set it down and get on with my other fiction writing or just focus on consulting work? And the answer is I can’t stop. I never set it all the way down because I am constantly running into where I need it in my own life. And each time I figure out how to get over one of those fences blocking my way, all the “you have to’s, you shouldn’t, why aren’t you…” I just feel so responsible to share it.
The world I most long to inhabit is filled with people who generously share their “maps” because they are confident that your adventure after does not lessen mine. Building a way to give yourself permission to take action on what you truly want in your life is one of the maps I’ve spent decades creating. I spent so much time wondering why I was not doing the things I craved. Why wasn’t the tiniest step forward enough to me? Why did I have such an impossible must—must be all now or it won’t ever happen. And we know that is 100% the way to never get what you want.
Permission—the self consent to decide and try— has given me an extraordinary life. And the pressure to not do that was enormous. You aren’t making it up. We are not traditionally socialized or taught to do this. We’re taught to fit into molds and be productive in certain ways. And sometimes those off-the-rack shapes fit pretty good, but so many times they don’t. And when they don’t we are sad and confused and unfulfilled. And the greatest tragedy of all is the world doesn’t get to see that thing which only you could have brought to it.
I think the unbearableness of that loss is one of the guiding forces in my life. I freaking love helping that thing happen for people. I’ve been doing it all my life. Whether it was supportive conversations reminding people who’s current reality didn’t match their dreams that it was not a permanent state. Or helping break the unwieldy, huge concepts into first steps. Or sometimes just reminding you that you have such inherent value because you are miraculously here.
That’s why I keep writing about permission, for me it’s the bridge between the why and the what.
This month I’m offering a brand new opportunity called Unlimited. Throughout the month of September I am starting a package of UNLIMITED 15 minute mentoring sessions through the end of the year! 15 minutes because we all need digestible chunks of permission right now. It’s kind to your nervous system, your calendar, and won’t overwhelm your to do list.
Here’s what you’ll get:
1 x 30 minute Kick Off Call to get us oriented with what you might be trying to achieve. Business, art, a new career, life pivots whatever you want to do and feel supported progress on by the end of the year.
Unlimited x 15 minute sessions. You receive the recording and summary of each session. Once you take action on what you’ve decided is the digestible action from the session, you can book your next session. (Don’t worry if you get stuck or change direction, we can get you reset).
1 x 30 minute State of the Union call in early December where we talk about what has happened so far and what might be next for you. (You’ll still be able to book 15 minute sessions as available until the holidays).
Cost $2500 CDN which means it’s totally on sale if you use USD or GBP! Purchase necessary to start, but if we don’t click at the Kick Off Call you can get a refund then (minus payment processing fees).
The sessions will be on Zoom.
Availability for sessions: M-Th 10-4 CST (let me know if you are non-North American and we can find something that works better for you).
As always you don’t have to want to do this—that’s a great answer. But if you do, I’d love to be that person. Reply or Comment and I’ll get us moving forwards.
