I hate myself for not being able to do it.
What to do when you know what you want to be doing and just can't action it.
Some days the trauma rut is too deep.
Too deep to imagine what to do next.
Too deep to pick up the tools to fix the gaping hole in the roof of your world.
Too deep to see over the sides and understand whether what’s happening actually is because of you.
When we are frozen and collapsed we are the most susceptible to the voice in our head or opinions of others that wants to shame and judge. I’ve been around for a bit now and I’ve never seen anyone recover faster because of shame and judgment for where they are at. I’ve seen them (and me) stumble forward and further injure themselves so that maybe the next time is the one they don’t get up from. I’ve seen it burrow them deeper and have to take even longer and make it even harder to recover. I’ve seen them snap with defensiveness and wound others.
Hating yourself is not going to make the world a better place.
Hurting yourself is not going to heal the situation.
If there is a voice in your head telling you that you aren’t doing enough right now in your business, in resistance to the unleashed cruelty of the world right now, or in a thousand different ways here is my unsolicited advice.
Have you eaten something with some nutrients?
Have you allowed yourself a rest?
(I’ve sat at my desk berating myself for the things not getting done when I really needed to rest. It always takes less time than not allowing yourself to rest.)
Have you been outside today?
We are meant to be in relationship with nature. Our bodies thrive in that relationship. If the sun is out get a little of it on your face. If it’s raining stand at the door or window and just smell it and feel the sensation of temperature change on your skin. Whatever is available to you, move a little closer to it.
Fuel yourself as a priority. Hating on yourself and wishing you felt differently today isn’t going to get you there. Taking care of yourself will.
