It’s hard to remember during challenging times that they are always part of things. Our human brains aren’t always honest accountants. During times of struggle they amplify the urgency and trial. Once things are past they love to gloss over the things we’ve navigated and survived. And despite what we all wish were true—that getting through this life thing could be done with only ease and happiness—we are all going to see more than we hope of the hard stuff.
We only get to catalogue our eras in hindsight. It’s been so fun to watch Taylor Swift this year explode through what people imagined was possible while she celebrates her global Eras Tour. (And I totally want to write a whole post on how Beyonce is showing how you give yourself permission to reclaim and redefine what’s important to you, for you regardless of the opinions of others). But even in the celebration of her work it’s not the present tense. And as I explore here over and over, action in your life can only ever happen in the present tense.
So if you want some practise and support while you’re living one of your yet undefined eras, grab the short audio course How to Give Yourself Permission and add it to your playlist.
